Safe, Inclusive, and Fun Sport for children living in rural marginalised communities.
When we began working in Krishnapur village in Raigarh to create positive childhood experiences through sports, we soon realised that children faced numerous barriers to play.
Only 30% of children were found to be playing regularly. The most common barriers included teasing, bullying, and harmful gender norms, along with household responsibilities, lack of sports infrastructure, limited role models and coaches, and very few opportunities for organised play.
By removing these barriers, our program has increased participation of children, especially girls, promoting play and well-being among the most marginalised and underserved communities.
